Setting Up Side Chaining
Sidechaining is a common practice in electronic music and can really help emphasize groove and also add a sense of space around important elements. In this video we use Groove Agent SE 4 to create a groove, activate individual outputs and send important elements of this groove (kick and clap) to separate compressors inserted over Padshop and Retrologue 2 synth tracks. The result is a classic push/pull vibe which is instantly recognizable in a plethora of electronic hits. This is the most obvious use for a side chain and once you can set it up, you can use the concept to effect a number of different inserts.
